A brief introduction to professional cricket formats:

Test match cricket has been challenged by more spectator-friendly and shorter versions of Cricket in recent years.

  • Test Matches, which last five days,
  • 50 overs per team for one-day matches
  • Twenty-20 matches with 20 overs each.
  • Ten overs per team in T10 matches
  • Super Sixes is a game in which there are two teams of six players, and each squad can bowl up to five overs.
  • Ten-ball and five-ball overs are anticipated for England’s “the Hundred” in the 100-Ball Format.
  • Three-Team cricket (3TC) is a game in which three teams compete against one another in a single game.
  • Indoor Cricket: The game designed for interior play is called indoor Cricket.
  • Blind Cricket: a variant of Cricket with a larger ball and bells designed for blind players.

Three main formats of Cricket:

Test cricket: The traditional version of the game, test cricket, has been played since 1877 and is now standardized in a five-day format with two innings per day. Because it puts teams to the test over an extended period, it is regarded as the highest form. Teams must demonstrate endurance, technique, and temperament under various circumstances to succeed in this style.

One-day Cricket: One-Day Internationals, or ODIs, are a more expensive format that debuted in 1971 but acquired traction in the 1980s. These one-inning contests last 50 overs each, and success is anticipated from teams with a good balance of speed, technique, and ability. This style is used for the ICC Cricket World Cup, the premier competition for the organization.

T20 Format: The newest, quickest, and most compact version of the game is Twenty20 Internationals. Since its introduction in 2005, this Format of 20 overs per team has attracted new audiences and inspired the development of unique expertise and innovations. A Twenty20 International match typically lasts three hours, and thanks to the powerful hitting, expert bowling, and outstanding fielding, it has gained enormous popularity among fans all over the globe.

The ICC World Twenty20 was the top international T20 competition, having debuted in 2007. Since then, it has been held five more times, with the addition of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in 2009. The following iteration, which will take place in the Caribbean in 2018, will, however, be the first time it stands alone.
